My story
I retired from teaching in twelve months.
In the fall of 2023, my husband and I loaded everything we owned into two trailers and moved to Alaska. We needed a fresh start in every sense of the word, and Alaska gave us that.
But as my family found its footing and realized dreams of all kinds in this new home, I was miserable. I could not keep juggling five days of teaching with everything I wanted to do for my family of eight.
Then one ordinary night outside wrestling practice, another mom told me her story. And I could not un-hear it.
At the BROOKe was born from all of it — the unraveling, the wrestling practice, the water, the retirement, the realization that God had been writing this story long before I could see the pages.
I jumped into the business and the water full speed and retired from teaching a year later.
But leaving teaching wasn’t the end of the story. It gave me the freedom to start asking a much bigger question: What kind of business did I actually want to build?
That question eventually became At the BROOKe.
